Plastic surgery has become increasingly popular. Each year over ten thousand surgeries are performed in order to correction imperfections and enhance the physical appearing. These surgeries include rhinoplasty, liposuction, face lifts, and breast augmentation, among others. Some surgeries turn out extremely successful, instilling newfound confidence and pride. Other surgeries, however, are not so
successful. There are many plastic surgeons who are not qualified to perform the plastic surgery, resulting in years of heartache, worry, correction surgeries, and expenses.
It is not federally required that a physician be specialized in cosmetic surgery. Many doctors attend weekend seminars where they quickly learn how to perform these types of procedures in order to gain the coveted compensation that accompanies them. This means that many doctors are not properly trained, causing a large number of possibilities for mishaps. More often than not, bad plastic surgery jobs are a result of a physician lacking the proper experience and training.
Surgeries that go wrong can cause a lifetime of complications. Aside from the psychological and financial problems, the following can be caused from a bad surgery: asymmetry, nerve damage, loss of sensation the tissue, deformation, paralysis, pain, and more. Many times, it takes years to correct a bad surgery and even then, it is often irreversible. In some cases, death has even occurred as a result of bad surgery.
The best way to avoid bad plastic surgery is to properly screen your physician. Be sure they have undergone training for the specific plastic surgery you are seeking. This training should include years of schooling, not just a weekend seminar. In addition, they should have a comprehensive portfolio with behavior and after pictures as well as testimonials and references.
